Join Our Instructor Team at NWLEA!

Are you looking to leverage your years of experience in law enforcement, corrections, or a related profession? Do you want to share your knowledge with the next generation of law enforcement professionals? Interested in supplementing your income and pursuing a flexible and meaningful post-retirement career?

Northwest Law Enforcement Academy (NWLEA) is always looking to expand our team of expert instructors. Whether you have years of teaching experience or are just beginning to explore instructional work, we welcome interest from credible professionals who want to contribute to the education and professional development of law enforcement candidates and working professionals.

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Practical experience in law enforcement, corrections, customs, or related fields
  • Instructional experience (preferred, but not required)
  • Strong ethics and professionalism
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Reliability, commitment, and a willingness to collaborate with our team

Instructors may be considered for:

The scope of instruction includes classroom-based topics, practical hands-on sessions, and potentially off-site or online delivery. We are especially interested in those who can both deliver existing material and develop new, high-quality content aligned with NWLEA standards.

  • Deliver classroom and/or hands-on instruction at a high level of professionalism
  • Teach from provided lesson plans or help develop new content
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in teaching approaches
  • Maintain ethical standards and contribute positively to the learning environment

This is subcontracted work. Instructors are compensated for:

  • Teaching time (hourly rate varies by course)
  • Development and administrative time, where applicable

NWLEA provides existing teaching materials for all established courses. Instructors are encouraged to make the content their own, as long as it remains consistent with academy standards.

Instructors may also be considered for custom or outside agency training opportunities, with prior approval from NWLEA administration.
